Light of the World

John 8:12 says, “Jesus .. said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” A celebration of that Light was a part of the Christmas season at Snyder Bible Church as it has been for over 40 years.  Nightlight representative Deneen Kelly spoke to us about the environment of darkness in Thailand that needs the “Light of the World” and what they are doing to bring it to the women there through the many areas of their ministry.

One specifically new area is the coffee shop named “Citylight Coffee”.  This ministry is a chance for retail work experience and showcases the bakery ministry called “Sweet Retreat”.

Naturally, we were happy to feature “coffee” as a major theme during the night, from the coffee filter trees to the chocolate covered beans (which there were considerably fewer after the men helped set up the night before!).

There were friends and visitors that played games and exchanged mugs, which we later filled with our own concoctions of coffee topped off with everything from flavored syrups to whipped cream and chocolate chips.

Cesia L. was our emcee and music was provided by Adreanne B. (with a little helper).  Thanks to all those that worked to make it happen and make it such fun.

Thanks to Deneen for challenging us to let the Light penetrate our own hearts and to be vulnerable to admitting the dark areas of our heart so in need of the Light of the World.  Hope to see you next year at the annual Christmas Tea..ur..Coffee.

I always love our Christmas gatherings. I especially love hearing Deneen share about the work in Thailand.
