My Ministry Is…
GUEST POST BY KASSI BRENT:
When was the last time you witnessed to someone? Do your co-workers, friends, acquaintances know you’re a Christian? This is something that has always been really scary to me. I have had friends who were so outspoken in their beliefs that it made me hesitant to share mine for fear that I might come across as rude or inconsiderate. This year, God brought me a way to witness to and minister to those around me in a friendly, kind, loving manner.
As some of you know, I am a henna artist. Henna is a plant that grows in the Middle East that stains skin a reddish-brown color for about two weeks. Many of the designs have meanings, and I have begun using Bible stories as the basis for many of my designs. God has allowed me to use these designs to reach many different people. I put the designs in my books when I do shows/fairs/parties, and when the girls select those designs, it’s really easy to then say, “I love this design. It actually has a story that goes with it. Would you like to hear the story?” I’ve also used the designs to open the door for prayer and God’s healing. For example, the story of Sarah for my friend who struggled with infertility. I’ve used the designs on my kids to help them to remember God’s Word. The most exciting door that has been opened, however, is doing the designs on other Christians. I am only one person and I only come into contact with so many people, but when a fellow believer wears the design, henna draws attention and she will get asked about her henna. Door opened. She can now share her story and her faith.
Here is a picture of a design that tells the Creation story. Just go read Genesis 1, and you will see how the story can be told through the design.
I do not charge when I do Bible story henna. God is always faithful to provide. This is the ministry He has blessed me with. If you would like to try it out or just see more of my work, here is my contact information:
