Kid’s Sunday School Superintendent Letter

Snyder Bible Church

Children’s Sunday School Information

I have been in my new position as Sunday School Superintendent for one month and it has been an eye opening experience. In the past I hardly had any interaction with our children’s Sunday School teachers or the kids. I always thought that the people in charge of Sunday School were doing a great job, and they were.

I now have a new appreciation for the teachers and leaders that have worked so hard over the years to make the Sunday School a success here at Snyder Bible.  It is a place where the kids are being taught the Word of God in a caring and loving manner.

It is nearly impossible to overestimate the value of a vibrant children’s ministry. Our church has a vision for the future, outstanding worship service and contribute to many ministries. And now I can say that they also have an outstanding children’s ministry.

When it comes to the children’s ministry there is a need for caring leadership and commitment to a strong sense of duty to the up coming generations. And I want to express an appreciation to all the teachers and volunteers. Thank you for what you do. It is not always easy, and you may not get thanked as much as you should, but know that you are appreciated.

Yesterday I was talking to Pastor Josh and he told me that he has had children coming to him and asking if they could recite to him the verses of the Bible that they had memorized. Also one of the grandparents said that their grand kids look forward to Sunday School every week. This is a pretty good sign that we are doing something right within the Children’s ministry.

Children’s ministry is a big job, there is a lot to it and there are some key elements that we should be aware of concerning children’s ministry.

We want to have a safe and attractive environment for the children. As most of you know we are in the process of constructing a new building that will house new class rooms for our kids. So, presently we are meeting in various areas of our church campus. Safety of the kids is upper most in our minds. While the kid’s are in their classrooms we have adults who do security checks all during Sunday School and Church. We want the parents to have confidence that when they drop off their kids to when they pick them up that their children are under constant care and supervision.

I also want the parents to know that we care about their kids. All the teachers, volunteers and leaders of the children’s Sunday school have shown that they love these kids that have been entrusted to them. You can tell by the smiles that the children have when they come into the all purpose building and see their teachers. The teachers call them by name, hugs and high fives are shared and they play with them before class. There is a good time had by all.

The leadership of Snyder Bible want to convey to the parents of the Sunday School Children that we strive to provide dedicated and knowledgeable teachers for every class.

All teachers and volunteers must be a member of Snyder Bible Church or if not a member they must be approved by the Deacon/Elder Board. In addition they must fill out a background check application. With all of this we must stress that the primary task of all those involved with Children’s Sunday School is to teach the Word of God. The teachers and volunteers must be the kind of person who will make a difference, teach the way the kids learn best and rely on the work of the Holy Spirit.

The dedicated ones that teach and lead the children must thereby “do his/her best to present himself/herself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15)

One final aspect of Children’s Sunday School is that we want the kids to have fun. Kids need to have fun. We want to see smiles on the faces of parents, teachers, volunteers and the kids.

Playing and laughter is a natural part of being a child and we want to include that in our ministry to the children. If you have a safe environment, love for the kids, quality training, and teach about Jesus then you are set to add all the fun you can.
